Being an Athlete

Why do we teach PE?

At St Stephen’s Juniors, our curriculum is designed to help the children understand and support that they are ‘Learning to change the World’. Through Physical Education and, where appropriate, the use of the Sustainable Development Goals (Global Goals) our Physical Education curriculum supports children’s learning through the teaching of Physical Education

At St Stephens Juniors School, we aim to have two PE lessons a week. All pupils have access to hall space, and large outdoor areas including a hard court surface and a playing field. Year 4 and 5 also have swimming lessons which will provide them with a range of strokes and increased water confidence; it is hoped that all pupils can swim 25m by the time they leave our school. St Stephens Juniors prides itself in providing the skills and knowledge to develop their physical literacy.
