We will begin by exploring plants and pollination before we delve deeper into bees and their roles in keeping our planet healthy and alive! Our challenge this term will be to create bee-friendly environments around school alongside  campaign videos to help save the bees!

World Book Day- Article 29 Goals of education

Today we had a wonderful day which was focussed all around books. We came in dressed as a character from our favourite book. We then got to share our book with other children in the class and other children in school. After that, we learnt the poem, The Dragon Who Ate Our School, and we made some actions to go along with it. We then performed our poem to the rest of the school.

PE: Basketball - Article 24: You have the right to the best health care possible...and information to help you stay well.

We are very lucky this term as we will be having the Bristol Sport Coaches in to teach us how to play Basketball. Today we focused on the different types of passing and the importance of defending. We can't wait to learn more and continue to develop our skills!

WOW Day! - Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education.

Today we were introduced to our new writing topic. We started off by watching the `Bee Movie` and then creating our own bee character using salt dough. After this, we thought about a setting we would like our character to explore- just like Barry did in the original film. All of these exciting ideas will be used in our writing over the term. We can't wait to show you our final pieces!

Science Day! - Article 28: You have the right to a good quality education.

To begin Term 4, we had a very exciting Science day where we learnt all about plants. Firstly, we identified the key features of a plant and dissected plants to identify the different features. By looking closely at each feature we were able to do some fantastic observational drawing!

We then investigated how water is transported within plants. We used celery and food dye to demonstrate how the stem (in particular the xylem) works.

We have really enjoyed our first day back and can't wait to continue learning more about plants!

Term 3

This term we will be continuing to focus on Global Goal 6- Clean water and sanitation, along with Article 24- Right to clean water. We will be using the book, The Water Princess- a story of Georgie Badiel and her life in Africa, as inspiration for our writing.

Water Treatment Centres - Article 24 You have the right for safe water to drink.

In Week 6 we have been creating our own infographics about Water Treatment Centres to demonstrate the process of water filtration in order to provide safe drinking water.

WOW- Water Aid (Article 24- safe water to drink)

Today we had a fantastic talk from Water Aid which helped us learn all about safe water and the availability of water on Earth. We couldn't believe that, although the world isn't made up of 70% water, only 1% of that water is drinkable. We are looking forward to learning more about this and we can't wait to think of some great ways to allow everyone to have the right to safe drinking water.

WOW- Alien Soup

We began our learning today by thinking about what makes our water 'clean'. We were given some 'Alien Soup' and our task was to try and make the water clean enough to drink.

We will be learning how to use noun phrases and commas in a list and inverted commas!

Class Assembly

Thank you to everyone who came to our assembly. We really enjoyed sharing everything we have learnt so far in Year 3.

We worked really hard drawing these owls. 3MK tried really hard to apply the hatching skills they have been practising to make them realistic.

We made our own magic tricks using magnets. We had to design them and then we had a go at making them. Some of ours actually worked!

During our Jigsaw lesson, we had lots of fun learning about teamwork. We had the challenge to make the biggest tower we could in our teams using spaghetti and marshmallows. Have a look at the photos to see how we got on.

This week we have been learning how to copy and paste images into google documents. We also had a go at creating our own Popplets. Although some of us found it challenging we used our Growth Mindset and succeeded.

In Oracy we played lots of different games including articulate. We worked hard to ensure we listened carefully to one another and took it in turns to speak.
