Term 4
We are kicking off Term 4 by diving into our enquiry to answer the question, "What do the Ancient Egyptians believe?" This exciting journey will see us become historians as we explore mummification, pharaohs, and even create our own canopic jars! Our learning will also link to the Global Goal 16: Peace, Justice and Strong Institutions. Alongside this, we will continue reading Krindlekrax by Philip Ridley, uncovering more about its fascinating characters and storyline. In writing, we will build on our skills and develop our creativity through engaging activities. We can’t wait to share our incredible learning adventures with you—keep an eye on our page for updates!
World Book Day!
It is that time of year again, where we get to come together to celebrate books! We all had a blast, dressing up as our book heroes and working together as a class to design our own class hero! We then created comic books using our class hero as the main character! As well as this, we had a character battle, where we created a top trumps style card for our heroes and battled between ourselves to find the best hero! We loved dressing up and talking all things books!
Term 3
We are kicking off this term by diving into our enquiry to answer the question, "What is beneath our feet?" This exciting journey will see us become geographers and scientists as we explore the layers of the Earth, rocks, and tectonic plates. Alongside this, we are continuing our exploration of writing features with George's Marvellous Medicine by Roald Dahl and introducing a new class text, Krindlekrax by Philip Ridley. We can’t wait to discover how these stories will inspire our creativity! Please check our page for updates on our incredible learning adventures.
We the Curious
For our engage for our new enquiry “What is a force?”, we took a trip to We the Curious. We started our day with a workshop on forces. We learnt about the forces: push, pull and twist. We also learnt about friction. We investigated what surfaces will make a car go the fastest. We then explored We the Curious and played in the exhibits. We had the best time!
Being a Technologist...
In our computing lesson, we explored animations using Brush Ninja. We learned how to create frame-by-frame animations, experimenting with different brush strokes, colours, and motion effects. To make our animations smoother, we developed our skills using the duplicate button, allowing us to make small adjustments between frames.
Being a Geographer...
We’ve begun our exciting enquiry, “What is beneath our feet?” with a fun challenge to build a tower that could withstand an earthquake using only paper, cardboard, sticks, and cellotape. Working together, we explored creative designs and tested our towers with simulated earthquakes to see how well they held up. It was a fantastic way to develop our teamwork and problem-solving skills.
Term 2
We are kicking off this term by beginning our enquiry to answer the question `How do we live a healthy lifestyle?` which links to Global Goal 3: Good Health and Well-being. We cannot wait to learn more about our skeletons, the food groups and how this keeps our bodies and minds healthy. Alongside this, we are continuing to explore writing features such as; adverbs using `George's Marvellous Medicine` by Roald Dahl as our key text. We will also be cooking up a storm and preparing a healthy meal using instructions we have written! Please check our page for updates on our fantastic learning!
Being an engineer...
For this term's no pens day, we swapped the pens and pencils for knifes to help us develop our cooking skills. We watched videos that explained to us exactly how we needed to chop, slice, grate and peel safely. After, we practiced these skills without equipment to make sure we were able to hold the knifes correctly. Once we knew the correct holds, we had a go at using these skills to chop peppers, slice cucumber and cut up meats. To top it off, we got an healthy, balanced pizza.
No Pens Day!
Today, we put down our pens and learnt through talking! We explored a new linguistic strand where we explored standing to speak, ensuring our voulume of voice is appropriate for the room and tracking the speaker. Alongside using this and other talk tactics of instigate, challenge and build we discussed several discussion points as well as playing oracy games.
Being an athlete
This term 3LH have been put on their dancing shoes. Our inspiration for our dance has been from different circus acts. This week we looked at a tightrope walker. We thought about height, balance and posture. We performed our dance to the class.
Being a Theologian
For Interfaith day, 3LH have learnt about the significance of light in Christianity and how it symbolises hope and faith. We discussed how light guides us in difficult times. To express this, we created beautiful pictures using oil pastels, showing how light is important to Christians and brightens our lives.
Being a linguist.
This week, our linguists kicked off their journey with a lively song to refresh their introductions: Bonjour, salut, ça va!After getting into the rhythm, we dove into the fascinating world of family vocabulary. Students learned different ways to talk about family members, and to make it even more engaging, they dressed up as their relatives and practiced introducing themselves in French.

Term 1
Year 3 are kick starting the year with an incredible enquiry into the lives of people living in the Stone Age to the Iron Age. We will be using the books 'The Stone Age Boy' to help us introduce targets into our writing to make it engaging for our readers.
In order to answer our enquiry question of 'What can we learn from Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age?', we will be explore what life was like for people living throughout these years to compare what was the same and what changed.
Keep checking out our webpage to see all of our fabulous work and find our the answer to our enquiry question!
Being an artist!
What a great start to term! In order to finish our enquiry into 'What is the difference between the Stone Age and the Iron Age?', we used our skills through being artists to create our own cave paintings! To make it as realistic as possible, we turned our tables onto the sides to give us the effect of having cave walls to decorate. Although we wanted to use lots of different colours, we realised that in the Stone Age, they wouldn't have had access to this so we kept it as close as possible by only using red, black and white. It was so much fun but we did get very messy!
Being a scientist!
This week, we were being scientists by exploring the question, "Does everything make a shadow?" During our investigation, we experimented with a variety of objects to see which ones created shadows. Before starting, we made predictions about which objects would create shadows. We used a straw, tin container, plastic box, and strainer, we observed how each object interacted with light. The experiment sparked our curiosity and deepened our understanding of how shadows form!
Being a poet.
We loved celebrating National Poetry Day this week by learning all about poetry. We We had a go at writing our own poems about animals and learned to recite a poem as a class to perform for an audience of our parents and carers. We used our oracy skills to enhance our delivery, trying out performance techniques such as projecting our voices and using actions to help us remember our lines.
Being a Historian
We started our enquiry 'What can we learn from the Stone, Bronze and Iron Age?' by doing a range of different Stone, Bronze and Iron Age activities. We carved soap to make flints for spearheads, painted with natural resources such as berries, made Stone Age shelters, tried weaving and looked at replicas of Stone Age flints. This has made us excited for everything there is to learn about the Stone, Bronze and Iron ages!
