Trinity

Thunderbirds are go!

The eighth Sunday after Easter Sunday is Trinity Sunday.  it is a day when Christians reflect on their belief that God is three persons within one God - God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

Understanding the Trinity is quite hard so this we tried to develop our understanding by linking it to The Thunderbirds.  Ms Wilson explained who The Thunderbirds are and how, through their top secret business 'International Rescue' they save the world from evil and make sure it is a safe place.

So what has this got to do with the Trinity?  We looked at how International Rescue works.  Jeff the father, stays at headquarters, the sons go out to rescue people and they communicate by radio.  Christians like to think of God as the Father, in heaven.  We could say that heaven is God's headquarters.  God sees that people need help, so he sends His Son, Jesus, who lives with people and shows us how to be like God.  And the Holy Spirit is like the radio, the carrier of the message from the Father to the Son.  Christians believe that it is the Holy Spirit that lives with them today, helping them to be close to God.  Without the radio, International Rescue couldn't communicate.  Without the Holy Spirit, Christians can't pray - their way of communicating with God.
