PlayPod

Our PlayPod

We would like to offer a huge thank you to the PTA who helped fund the set up of our PlayPod and we are excited to see the children enjoying the equipment at lunchtimes.

The aim of the PlayPod is to transform our lunchtimes enabling:

* Happy, engaged children

* Significantly fewer incidents and accidents

* Children returning to class ready to learn

* Varied play that promotes imaginative thinking

We want the children to be fully active during lunchtimes, and the PlayPod will allow this to happen through taking more risks and managing their own risk. We may initially see a slight increase in bumps and bruises but we hope this will allow the children to learn their own boundaries which will help keep them safer in the future.

We need your help!!

We have put a lot of equipment in the PlayPod already, however, we will need a constant flow of new resources as the year goes on. The idea is that we use recycled objects and then throw them out when they can't be used anymore. Below is a list of equipment, that we need as soon as possible, to help ensure the children are able to vary their ideas and we ask that it is safe for children to use.

Suitcases (the bigger the better)

Pushchairs

Tyres (clean)

Dressing up clothes

Carpet inner tubes

Cardboard boxes

Foam tubes (pipe insulators)

Old mobile phones

Carpet squares

Old curtains/blankets/sheets for den making

Thick plastic rope for den making

Cushions (large and small)

Skatboards

Old scooters

We are in no doubt that the Playpod will improve lunchtimes for all children. it will be new to them, but we will give them a proper introduction to the equipment and explain the simple rules and the rest will be up to them!

If you have any questions regarding the PlayPod, please do not hesitate to email Mr Walters who will be happy to answer and queries you may have.
