At St Stephen’s, our vision is ‘learning to change the world’. Through history, we have the opportunity to learn about significant changes that have happened in the past and the effect they have on the world in which we live in today. We are dedicated to ensuring that children are able to look at the remarkable historical events of the past. Through the threads of celebrating the achievements of these eras, understanding the laws and how democracy was formed and is now shaped, and looking at the legacies and their impact on societies, children at St Stephen’s will have a rounded understanding of how things have changed. Our aim is for children to be able to use these examples in history to show that change is not to be feared and that everyone has the ability to make a change and become part of history. As well as this, children will be able to use their understanding of past actions, both good and bad, to inform the decisions that they make in the future in or quest to change the world.
