Gardening Club

Within Gardening Club the children are taught a variety things. Firstly, the children look at what fruit and vegetables can be grown in the UK and when they should be planted and harvested. Children then look after the allotment by ensuring it is weeded on a weekly basis and given the correct nutrients. As a new club, we will be focusing on developing the grounds and beds before we start to plant and grow new crops. By the end of the school year our aim is for the children to have planted garlic, strawberries, raspberries, rhubarb, potatoes and onions. We will then be able to use these crops to make healthy meals with our Cooking Club and sell on to parents and carers after school. As a school that advocates the Global Goals, we are aiming to teach the children how to grow and create meals that they have produced. This facilitates their understanding of how to become more self-sufficient by growing and harvesting their own food.
