County Games Day at BGS Playing Fields

We have had an amazing day of sport at the South West Games. We had four teams competing against the best schools from Bristol, South Glos, BANES and North Somerset.

Bristol Grammar Playing Fields in Failand were the setting for our most successful games ever. The sun was shining and the parents were cheering us on from start to finish.

After winning their group with ease, the girls netball team won their semi final 6-2 before sadly losing in the final to Elmlea. However, it has been an amazing year for the team and they should be hugely proud of themselves. Thank you Mr B!

Our archery team also put on an amazing display and were very unlucky not to win. They eventually came 3rd. They showed patience and skill throughout. For a team that has had only 20 minutes of coaching, this is a great result! Well done.

Our hockey team not only won our first ever match at this level, they finished 6th out of 21 teams...WOW! The team was only put together this week so this is an amazing result. The teamwork was excellent! Thank you to Miss Coates for training them and Mrs Noble for her coaching today!

Our newly formed cycling team were crowned champions in the team event. They rode without fear, often crashing into barriers and going shoulder to shoulder with other cyclists...but, they were well deserved champions. We also had a gold and bronze in the boys race and a silver in the girls race! Well done.

Overall, it was a hugely successful day and every one of our 21 children represented our school brilliantly and are a true credit to St Stephen's. It was a pleasure to see you in action, to see the smiles on your faces, the team spirit, the support you gave each other and the determination to succeed.

I am proud of everyone involved...well done St Stephen's!! Mr Walters
