Sports Day!
The Great Teachers Race - Stinchcombe - Walters - Littlewood - Payne
We had a fantastic time on Sports day on Friday 20th June. 6OL had some great results including Alfie Walters winning the 60m sprint and some girls winning the relay. Well done to everyone that took part. It was a fantastic afternoon.
End of the London Eye Mystery
We have now come to the end of the London Eye Mystery book. We finally found out what really happened to Salim. Don't worry we won't give it away on here! So if you want to know then you'll have to ask someone from our class.
Overall we loved the book and had some great things to say about it:
"The best book I have read in school." Callum
"The best book I've read by a mile." Riley
"It was amazing because it makes you eager to read on." Amy M
"The best part was the mystery." Becky
"It's exciting, amazing and makes you want to read on." Joe
This Term we will be continuing with our London Eye Mystery topic as well as completing our Junior Apprentice topic! This is where the children will have to design and make their own product to sell to make as much profit as possible. We will hopefully find the next Lord Sugar or Richard Branson.
Ted's 5 Facial Expression Reader
Shocked!
Really happy
Slightly happy
Slightly angry
Extremely angry!
Ted, the main character from our London Eye Mystery story, has 5 face codes for reading people's emotions. As a class we tried to create some of the faces which Ted would definitely understand!
Year 6 singing begins!
This term we have a fantastic singing teacher (Nigel) to help us prepare for our end of year production and leavers service. Watch us after our first lesson! St Stephens really has got talent!
Term 5
Ted and Kat (Kelsey and Amy) discuss Salim's disappearance
As part of our Power of Reading book 'The London Eye Mystery' we had to act in role as the characters from the book. This is the point in the story where Ted and Kat's cousin, Salim, has mysteriously disappeared after riding the London Eye.
SATs are over! Year 6 Picnic
London Landmarks Project!
SATs Revision - Making Numeracy games
As part of our revision for our SATs week, we designed some of our own board games with a Maths link. We worked in pairs and created games with a variety of themes ranging from Football to dancing to London!
This Term Year 6 will be taking their tests in the week beginning the 12th May. We will be continuing with our mixed Maths groups and also practicing our Spelling and grammar and our Reading comprehension skills.
Term 4 Review
Last term we started building up to our SATs Tests which take place during Term 5. We continued our lessons in our mixed class Numeracy groups and looked at different ways of recording our results. Below you can see we even had an exciting Problem Solving lesson where we recorded our findings on the tables!
"It was brilliant. I really enjoyed working on the tables rather just on whiteboards." Callum
Table Maths!
Humans
Our Science topic for the term was Humans with a particular focus on the skeleton and teeth. We also linked our Art work to this topic and, with Miss Lewis, completed collage pieces using black and white paper of close up human teeth.
"We drew the outline of the teeth. We then cut different shades of paper up and sorted them into piles. After, we stuck them on with the darkest at the bottom, lightest at the top." Kelsey
