Girls' Football Club

In terms 5 and 6, we created Girls' Football Club with the aim of raising the profile of the sport (being as the Women's World Cup is this year) with girls of the school.

At training we have been learning basic skills such as dribbling, passing and shooting to prepare us for creating a team next year. We have worked really hard on training and enjoyed seeing how much we have improved over the weeks. Some of us have even joined new clubs outside of school we have enjoyed it so much!

Our First Football Tournament

Last week we were invited to the WISE campus to take part in a Year 4/5 girls' football tournament. We decided to take two teams which consisted of 8 girls who have regualrly attended the club. We found this really tough as for many of us this was our very first competitive game of football and many of the other teams had been established much earlier in the year. Despite this we performed really well with our A team, which included Nell, Stephanie and Erin from the club, coming first in their group and the B team finishing third in theirs.

This was a brilliant experience and we can't wait to improve on our performances in next year's tournament!
