League Matches

Our first match of the season will be against Barrs Court on Tuesday 10th October, Watch this space!!

Well done to our football team who were in action on 11th, 12th and 14th October. In our first match we played a very strong Hanham Abbots who are top of our league. It was our first game of the season and the boys played brilliantly. It was a tough game from start to finish but after going 1-0 down we recovered well and ended up drawing the match 1-1 thanks to a goal from Luke Skinner.

In our second game we played against The Park. It was a tough game against a very good team. We battled hard from start to finish but just weren't good enough tonight. We lost 3-0. However, the effort from all the boys was excellent and if they play like that in every match we will win more games than we lose.

Regional Final

I would like to congratulate the Year 4 football team for representing St Stephen's and South Gloucestershire at the regional football finals at Ashton Gate today.

The event brought together the four best schools from Bristol, four from Gloucestershire and two from South Gloucestershire. We won the South Glos event and arrived with high hopes.

In our first match we defeated Headley Park 2-0 and played well. However, the results didn't go our way after that, losing 2-1 to Castle Hill, 2-0 to St Bons and 3-1 to Norton Primary.

It was a tough day for the boys and I know they are at home bitterly disappointed that they didn't perform as they know they can. However, they can hold their heads up high as they are in the top ten schools across the three counties (not bad considering there are over 450 schools)!

Thank you for the vocal support from parents and grandparents, who I am sure are very proud of the effort the boys put in. We live to fight another day!
